is quickly becoming the norm. Yet barriers remain prevalent, like poor out-of-the-box experiences that slow the onboarding process and harm user trust in the entire connected device category.

— The Challenge

 

To address this issue, Cirrent developed ZipKey…

a seamless and secure connection for all Wi-Fi enabled devices. With manufacturers incorporating ZipKey themselves, Cirrent began to see inconsistencies and experience issues across their client’s product onboarding experiences. Since ease and simplicity are vital to ZipKey’s value, Cirrent set out to establish a best in class onboarding experience and produce a representative demo to assist manufacturers in optimizing their own implementations.

— The Solution

 

Given our depth of experience in the IoT landscape,

Cirrent sought IXP’s help in developing a comprehensive demo prototype that would maximize ZipKey implementation. We first set up, tested and evaluated the current flows using Raspberry Pis and developer tools. We then applied heuristic learning to identify the standard onboarding process for smart devices, simplifying steps and language along the way. From there, we redesigned the demo flow, overhauling the front-end design to create a visually captivating and engaging experience.
